Founded in 2013 by James Gavey, we are a full service, Chartered architectural practice based in Guernsey, offering complete design, planning and building solutions.

We have the proven ability to design and deliver bespoke extensions, conversions and new build projects. Working collaboratively with our team of specialist consultants allows us to form clear workable solutions, using modern materials and fabrication methods which meet today’s requirements and future needs. Our energy, enthusiasm and commitment is evident from concept through to completion ensuring we deliver a high level of service. This has led to future projects by way of personal recommendations.

We forge personal relationships to understand our clients’ needs and ensuring designs exceed expectations. We explore, test and co-create practical designs against current Planning Policy and carefully consider the technical building standards at an early stage, to ensure approvals are gained first time.

James Gavey


James entered the construction industry to study Architectural Technology in 2002 and graduated from London South Bank University with First Class Honours in 2010. James established JG Architecture in early 2013 and has built up comprehensive experience in Planning for domestic extensions and alterations, listed building upgrades, residential development, commercial office fit-outs and retail projects locally, as well as design schemes for leisure facilities in Europe.

A Chartered Architectural Technologist, James guides the JGA team ensuring highly focused design and building solutions, retains clear pre-construction phases for clients and maintains an honest and responsive service across the board.

Outside of JGA, James loves leisure time with his young family, is passionate about golf or catching up on sport generally and also takes a keen interest in interior design trends and new building material developments.

Miles Pengelley

Architectural Practice Manager

Miles joined JG Architecture in 2016 and soon completed a BSc in Architectural Technology graduating through London South Bank University with First Class Honours. Miles brings meticulous planning to our design and construction methods and has great skill in realising a client brief, often exceeding expectations. Having entered the construction industry in 2008, Miles has focused experience with domestic extensions, conversions and residential projects. Each of these traits contributed to Miles’ selection as The Construction Industries ‘Aspiring Star’ at the 2018 Construction Awards.

In his downtime, Miles enjoys spending time eating out with his now fiancé, friends and family. As well as getting stuck into DIY around the house, he is also a keen sportsman, captaining Sylvans football Priaulx team. In fact, Miles will turn his hand to most sports with a competitive approach, no matter how social the sport.

Dan Tibbs

Architectural Technician

Dan joined the JGA team in July 2017 following the completion of his A-Levels at the Guernsey Grammar School & Sixth Form Centre. From previous experience at a local architectural practice and working at the Planning Department, Dan has gained some valuable knowledge for a career in architecture. In 2018, Dan will begin his path on the apprenticeship scheme studying Construction & the Built Environment.

As well as his love for 3D design in the studio, Dan has a strong interest in skateboarding during his free time.

Aiden Potter

Architectural Technician

Aiden is an experienced Architectural Technician, having been in the construction industry since leaving school in 1989. His earlier years were spent working for a local firm of structural engineers and has since worked for two local established architectural practices. Aiden has a strong technical background, practical approach and has worked across all types of projects locally ranging from small domestic alterations through to large commercial fit outs.

Outside the office, Aiden loves spending time with his family, enjoys watching rugby and has a keen interest in 3D modelling and rendering programs.

Martin Savident

Trainee Architectural Technician

Martin joined JGA in November 2020 as a Trainee Architectural Technician. He left Grammar School Sixth Form in 2018 after completing his A-levels and went on to study ‘Construction & The Built Environment’ at the Guernsey College of Further Eduction – currently working towards his Level 4 qualification.

Outside of work, Martin enjoys playing football and is a key player for the Guernsey Rovers AC Priaulx football team. He also enjoys running, boxing and generally keeping fit.

Gerard Falla


Guernsey born and bred, Gerard has recently returned to the island with his family having spent the past few decades living and working in the United States.

Gerard is an experienced BIM Manager/Coach, BIM Tech, Architectural Designer, Graphic Designer, IT Manager, 3D Generalist / Animator / Renderer specialising in ArchiCAD.

Having worked with Mogavero Architects in Northern California, he was also the chair of the Sacramento ArchiCAD User Group. More recently Gerard lived in Los Angeles, working with Minarc in Santa Monica, building them custom ArchiCAD-based systems for doing design and take-offs, as well as designing and detailing on a range of projects.

Gerard has experience across a range of sectors from single-family luxury, single-family market-rate, multi-family residential, multi-family affordable residential, commercial, retail, restaurant and assembly spaces. Project scopes have ranged from a single modest building to multi-building sites with half a million square foot footprints, complex land-use issues, planning issues, tree and historic façade preservation issues.

Outside of work Gerard plays fretless bass and guitar across a range of styles, and does sound design and production; he’s an ex-high-performance motorcyclist; he has a background in assorted martial arts & fencing.

Gerard is passionate about digital and traditional sketching and sculpting; architectural history and technologies over time; architectural design and architectonics across cultures, having traveled through England, France, Italy, Japan and United States exploring architectural exemplars; and he is actively exploring game development / level design.
